Jesus Kitchen
A Traveling Place of Welcome
We are a group of people intent on literally meeting people where they are at with the radical hospitality of Jesus. We travel around the United States in buses and RVs to connect with individuals of all walks of life to provide food, serve, and be a light that reflects the love of Jesus Christ. Our goal is to create places of welcome where we can offer hospitality and community to those who live on the margins.
We attend Rainbow Gatherings, which are annual gatherings of temporary loosely knit communities including homeless travelers, new-age hippies, and those who practice other forms of religion. We gather in national forests around the country for one or more weeks at a time. While there, we set up the Jesus Kitchen as a place of welcome to connect with and serve those we meet.
We love connecting with a mostly unseen subculture made up of people who are disillusioned with mainstream culture and the “American Dream.” Many are skeptical of Christians, and although many we meet are searching for spiritual answers, most would never consider walking into a church.
So what do we do? We show up. As the Jesus Kitchen, we feed those who are hungry, journey with people wherever they are at spiritually, and love everyone equally with the heart of Jesus. We come alongside those who are broken and live in the margins and welcome them into the radical hospitality that Jesus offers. We create a place of welcome.
