March Happenings

What a wild ride this winter has been! From unexpected warm spells to surprising blessings, we've had quite the journey these past few months. As we gear up for spring, we wanted to take a moment to share some exciting updates with you all.

Renovation Grants in Abundance!

At the end of 2023, we were thrilled to receive a grant from The Cause, Inc. to aid us in our apartment renovations. And just when we thought things couldn't get any better, we were blessed once again in January with another grant from the same grantor! These grants have been instrumental in helping us continue our mission and provide better facilities for those we serve.

Amplified Missions Network Learning Academy

We've been hitting the books and attending classes through the Amplified Missions Network Learning Academy. The knowledge and skills we've gained are invaluable, and we're excited to put them into action. Stay tuned for the positive impacts these classes will have on our organization!

University of St. Thomas Partnership

In February, we were selected by the University of St. Thomas Small Business Institute  class for a special opportunity. Members of the senior class will be working on creating a marketing plan specifically tailored to help us grow Places of Welcome. We're incredibly grateful for this partnership and eager to see the results.

Looking Ahead

As we reflect on the past and look to the future, we're filled with hope and determination. In the coming months, we aim to complete the renovation of the kitchen, which has admittedly been slower than expected. Additionally, we're eager to shift our focus to the outdoor spaces and begin renovating our grounds, which are currently resembling a mud pit more than anything else. With your continued support and prayers, we're confident we can tackle these challenges head-on.

Call for Volunteers and Prayer

As we look forward into the rest of the year, we're in need of some specific support and prayer:

  • We're on the lookout for a dedicated volunteer to assist with communication and administration tasks. If you or someone you know is interested in lending a helping hand, please reach out to us at theplacesofwelcome@gmail.com.

  • For Ben as he leads the renovation efforts.

  • For Teresa as she works hard on administration, financial and communication tasks.

  • For our organization as a whole as we continue to navigate laying the foundations of Places of Welcome.

  • For our health, over the past month Teresa has had Covid and Eva is on her 3rd round of antibiotics trying to fight off strep.

Thank you for being a vital part of the Places of Welcome community. Your support, prayers, and encouragement mean the world to us. Together, we can continue making a positive impact and spreading love and kindness to those in need.

Blessings,

Ben & Teresa Pothier
